Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support the Mountain Technical Services Director in managing, analyzing, and optimizing technical data related to the carving process. This role will involve developing data pipelines, analyzing geological, technical, media data, and supporting IT infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience in data engineering, data analysis, and IT, with a passion for applying technical expertise to a historic and culturally significant project.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data pipelines to support the carving process and related technical projects.
- Analyze and process structured and unstructured data, including geological, media, and technical datasets.
- Work closely with engineers, surveyors, and IT staff to optimize data storage and retrieval.
- Support and improve IT systems used for media collection, sensor data, and 3D modeling.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security within the technical services department.
- Automate workflows to enhance data processing and analysis efficiency.
- Assist in integrating new technologies, such as LiDAR, GIS, and other digital tools, into carving operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in data engineering, with a strong understanding of data pipelines, ETL, and data warehousing.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other programming languages for data processing.
- Familiarity with GIS, 3D modeling, LiDAR, or survey data analysis is a plus.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and database management systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to work in a technical, hands-on environment.
- Passion for historical and cultural preservation is a plus.
