Geotechnical Engineer

Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation is a 501c3 Public Charity of International scope that is a cultural, educational, and humanitarian project of 75 years dedicated to protecting and preserving the culture, traditions, and living heritage of the Indigenous people of North America. The Foundation demonstrates its commitment to this endeavor by continuing progress on the world’s largest sculptural undertaking by carving a Memorial of Lakota leader, Crazy Horse.

Job Description:

CHMF is seeking a talented and innovative Geotechnical Engineer with a strong background in information technology (IT) to join our team. The ideal candidate will combine their expertise in geotechnical engineering with IT skills to develop and implement innovative solutions for our projects. You will play a key role in leveraging technology to enhance our geotechnical analysis, modeling, and reporting processes.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, site assessments, and risk evaluations.
  • Manage monitoring instrumentation and develop programs for analyzing monitoring data.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses using software tools and develop custom scripts or applications to automate processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate geotechnical data with other project data sources.
  • Implement geospatial technologies for geotechnical mapping and visualization.
  • Utilize data analytics techniques to derive insights from geotechnical data and inform decision-making.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our geotechnical practices.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R.
  • Experience with geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, FLAC) and CAD/GIS.
  • Familiarity with database management systems and data visualization tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
