The Quad-City Times in Davenport is seeking a political reporter to cover state and national issues in Iowa. The reporter will be based in Des Moines and will coordinate with the Cedar Rapids Gazette's well-established Des Moines Bureau.
We prioritize enterprise and watchdog reporting and are looking for a reporter who seeks innovative ways to tell the best stories.
The beat includes coverage of the Iowa Legislature, with a focus on state representatives and senators representing areas with Lee newspapers, including Davenport, Muscatine, Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Mason City, Sioux City and Council Bluffs. The job includes covering congressional issues and elections, including the Iowa Caucuses.
Candidates should have a journalism or communications degree and some reporting experience. We will consider college graduates who have internship experience and/or worked for their college media.
