Lee Enterprises is seeking a journalist to manage and edit coverage of Smith Mountain Lake and surrounding Franklin County. Candidates should have experience writing and editing local government, education and business stories, and have an interest in the recreation, tourism and real estate sectors important to Smith Mountain Lake in particular. The job includes serving as the editor of Smith Mountain Laker magazine, a six-times a year publication. This involves planning content and hiring freelance writers and photographers. It also involves serving as editor and contributor to The Franklin News-Post, a twice-a-week newspaper and website covering Rocky Mount and Franklin County. The Laker editor also oversees the work of an editor who produces Laker Weekly. The Laker Editor is part of the leadership team of The Roanoke Times and coordinates coverage of Franklin County with other editors.
