Lee Enterprises, Inc. is hiring an aggressive and ambitious reporter to cover University of Iowa athletics on and off the field.

This person will be the authoritative voice on Hawkeyes sports, providing must-have content to a hungry audience. This reporter will be based in Iowa City, delivering content across the state. Our Iowa news organizations include The Quad-City Times, Sioux City Journal, The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Globe Gazette (Mason City), The Muscatine Journal and The Daily Nonpareil in Council Bluffs.

We're looking for a gifted journalist who will consistently break news and deliver scoops on this highly competitive beat, while creating compelling, unexpected and memorable journalism on all platforms.

The right candidate will:
  • Demonstrate an eye for enterprising angles: Context and analysis are crucial parts of successful beat coverage
  • Have a passion for local news and the communities that depend on it
  • Be able to demonstrate their ability to build an online audience
  • Enjoy collaborating with reporters across the company to tell bigger stories and tackle bigger issues
Other qualities that will be helpful in this role:
  • Demonstrated ability to drive online subscriptions
  • Experience shooting and editing video
  • Previous experience covering a collegiate beat
