Clinical Counselor
JOB SUMMARY:
This position primarily offers direct clinical services to students during the academic year through individual counseling, group counseling, case management, and crisis intervention. Other opportunities can include campus-wide opportunities through consultation, outreach programming, and collaboration as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide evidenced-based individual, group, and crisis interventions to students.
- Provide advocacy, referrals, and resources to students depending on particular needs.
- Participate in consultation with students, faculty, and staff.
- Function as part of a team in terms of collaboration, support, and office management.
- Assist team with outreach programming, including tabling events, presentations, and workshops.
- Attend office and division meetings on a regular basis.
- Seek consultation/supervision as needed/required for licensure.
- Utilize clear, respectful communication and interpersonal skills while completing other duties.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the SES division and the university.
- Attend campus events as a representative of Counseling Services and/or OWU staff.
- Maintain compliance with Counseling Services policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate licensure within the State of Ohio.
- Maintain ethical, moral, and legal standards in professional conduct, documentation, and clinical work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be licensed in good standing as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Independent Social Worker, Licensed Social Worker, Independent Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Psychologist in the State of Ohio.
- Have experience and competence in providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation.
- Have experience and/or training in the ethics, expectations, and delivery of telehealth services.
- Have experience, training, and interest in working with diverse, multicultural populations, especially within a higher educational setting.
- Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as competency using technology/computers.
- Have the ability to form strong working relationships with students, faculty, and staff, and relate effectively with diverse members of the campus Community.
