Summary of Position
Assists with the cultivation and care of trees, shrubs, flowering plants, hardscapes and general maintenance of the grounds of St. Joseph’s Indian School. This is a temporary nonexempt position.
Accountability
Reports to the Lead Grounds
Responsibilities
- Maintains turf areas which includes mowing, trimming, irrigation, fertilizing, and removal of natural and man-made trash.
- Maintains hard-surfaced outdoor areas, which includes removal of debris.
- Landscaping duties include planting, watering, pruning, removing, fertilizing, mulching, etc.
- Operates light motorized equipment and vehicles. Operates small power tools and uses hand tools.
- Is responsible for assisting with the construction and maintenance work of the physical complex during down times of grounds work.
- Maintains outdoor pavilion and lavatory facilities. Removes litter from pavilion, restrooms and campus areas.
- Complies with all safety and health requirements, whether established by management or by federal, state, or local laws.

Performs other duties as required by Grounds Supervisor.
Physical Demands
- Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Occasionally exerts up to 50 lbs. of force.
- Regularly bends, stoops, crouches, and climbs stairs.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Must have the capability to apply oneself physically over long periods of time.
- Uses the abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly over time without becoming fatigued
- Position requires working outdoors.
