Assistant Director for Community-Engaged Learning
Buffalo State, State University of New York, seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Director for Civic Engagement.
The Assistant Director for Community-Engaged Learning will primarily provide support for Buffalo State courses partnering with community organizations to support academic learning and address community-identified priorities. The Assistant Director will also contribute to the design, development, and delivery of a variety of services and resources for faculty, community partners, and students. They support implementation of service-learning agreements, travel to conduct site visits with community partners, and contribute to writing and editing communication materials. Reporting to the CCE Associate Director, the Assistant Director for Community-Engaged Learning is a key position in the Civic and Community Engagement Office, which serves as a hub of Buffalo State’s commitment as a community-engaged anchor institution in a diverse neighborhood.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated professional experience coordinating or administering civic and/or community engagement programs, preferably connected to academics. Experience supporting partnerships with equity, diversity, justice, and inclusion in mind. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with campus and/or community personnel. Proven ability and enthusiasm for working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Strong writing, organizational, planning, and administrative skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree. Knowledge of the Western New York not-for-profit community. Involvement in community-engaged learning. Significant experience as a volunteer or community activist. Demonstrated presentation skills and public speaking experience. Experience creating communications materials.
