Job Description

Senior Strategic Communications Associate

The Office of Marketing and Communications is looking for a graphic designer with a background in marketing and communications to support Integrated Communications team projects by developing high-quality visual assets for executive communications. Reporting to the Director of Integrated Strategic Communications, this position will be responsible for producing content that reflects the brand of the institution, our leaders and their priorities. This position will be a key member of a team focused on projects that reflect the highest priorities of Mizzou and the UM System. A successful candidate must be professional, and have excellent problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across the university to deliver strong results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Serve as lead visual strategist and presentation producer for the integrated communications team, providing executive communications support for the Board of Curators, president, and other leaders, as necessary.
  • Facilitate group presentations to support multiple leader presentations at the campus or system level.
  • Represent critical data, information, and key messages visually in presentations.
  • Collaborate with writers to provide visuals and assets for speaking engagements, signature events, meetings and presentations, etc.
  • Research and design content for internal and external audiences across a variety of materials including, but not limited to PowerPoint presentations, digital screens, handouts, event invitations and programs, website, speeches and scripts, presentations, talking points, print and electronic publications, letters/memos, etc.
  • Ensure Mizzou and UM System brand are properly used in presentations and other forms of communication.
  • Attend events as needed to achieve optimal communications delivery.
  • Coordinate with partner communicators to share preferred content to use for campus and/or system communications.
  • Uphold the highest standard of customer service for all partners and audiences.
  • Social media knowledge and experience preferred
Shift

M - F 8a-5p, additional hours as needed

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Graphic design experience required. Must be proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

Strong writing skills preferred.

Knowledge of Drupal and WordPress content management systems preferred.

Strong layout skills and the ability to convey complex information graphically.

Outstanding collaboration skills and a proven ability to work with a wide variety of constituents in order to establish and meet shared institutional goals

Ability to set priorities, problem-solve, multi-task in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills across different audiences, including senior leadership and administrators

Highly organized self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at any given time

Must demonstrate professionalism, customer service, etiquette, confidentiality, and integrity in their activities

PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS

Must be proficient in the application of the Mizzou and UM System brand

Possess initiative, teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, time management, project management and presentation and excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to translate complex information, including data, research, etc. into easy-to-understand visual assets

Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and exhibit effective written and oral communication skills

Ability to handle multiple tasks or events at one time meeting assigned deadlines.

Keep close attention to details on all projects.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 – $65,000

Grade: GGS-10
