Job Description

The Wang Lab at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Danforth Plant Science Center seeks to hire a self-motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work on lipid signaling in rice reproductive morphology and plant stress responses. The projects are exciting and use multidisciplinary research strategies, including protein-lipid interactomes, in vivo metabolite imaging, lipidomics, and multiplex genomic editing. Ph.D. in biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, plant biology or related field is required. Working knowledge in molecular interactions and/or mass spectrometer is highly desirable. The research will be conducted in the Wang Lab housed in the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and University of Missouri-St. Louis. Competitive salary, fringe benefits, and travel support to conferences will be provided. The appointment is expected to last for two years given with available funding and satisfactory performance, with an option to renew . Responsibilities:
  • Design and conduct experiments in plant biochemistry, molecular biology, and functional genomics.
  • Maintain precise records of research findings and analyze data statistically.
  • Write reports as required and prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Communicate findings and present research at professional meetings.
  • Mentor others and work collaboratively in the lab to learn and aid in other projects.
  • Other lab and research duties as assigned.

Qualifications

PhD in biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, plant biology or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Able to organize, multitask time efficiently and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Able to use integrated computational methods for data analysis and thinking quantitatively.
  • Write effectively and have good communication skills.
  • Have prior research experience in bichemistry, molecular biology, and plant biology.
  • Familiarity with mass spectrometry and metabolomic analyses is a plus and training in these disciplines will be provided as needed.
