Post Doctoral Associate
Med-Medicine - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23001406)

A Postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in the Department of Medicine. The laboratory of Dr. Sadeesh Ramakrishna is focused on understanding how hypoxia signaling regulates metabolic homeostasis during various pathophysiological states. We recently demonstrated that hypoxia signaling controls lipid-sensing in the intestinal enteroendocrine L-cell, which secretes GLP1 (Cell Mol Gastroenterol Hepatol. 2022;13(4):1057-1072; Mol Metab. 2022 Mar;57:101432; Cell Rep. 2022 Jan 18;38(3):110270). Our research involves invitro and invivo models of L-cell-specific gain and loss of hypoxia signaling. The successful applicant will work on the project to understand the molecular mechanism of hypoxic regulation of nutrient sensing in L-cells and its therapeutic applications. The candidate will also be encouraged to work on several ongoing projects related to fatty liver disease and adipose tissue remodeling. The successful candidate is expected to be self-motivated and work independently. A Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or a related field is required. Experience in molecular biology, animal handling, in vivo metabolic tests, and experience in transgenic mice are strongly preferred.
